Unfinished Picture Project, Govan, Glasgow                                                                                                  Jan 2012 – June 2012

I had a role as a resident art practitioner with the Unfinished Picture Project, (Spring Project) which is a ‘network of art, media, and education practitioners and activists dedicated to the promotion of community art, popular education and cross-cultural dialogue’. In collaboration with another artist, we facilitated art based workshops, centered around themes concerning the perception of culture, with a group of teenagers in a high rise flat in Cardonald, Glasgow. The project was twinned with a group of youth in Nablus, Palestine and the art work and ideas produced with both groups were shared through social media resources, enabling dialogue and learning exchanges between the two different cultures. The project concluded with the  hosting of an art and cooking celebration through which the young people were empowered to share what they had learnt with a wider audience and enjoy eating their own home made baklava. Post cards were made using images taken during this event and these included recipes and short shared explanations before being distributed through the doors of neighbors in the surrounding flats.

Art workshops with children from Blairdardie Skate group, Drumchapel, Glasgow                                              2011

Eilidh Graham and I ran weekly art workshops for 6-12year olds at Blairdardie Skate park, on the fringe of Drumchapel, Glasgow. Most activities were themed around the groups favorite activity, skate boarding! We explored fun and creative ways of linking art with the sport as well as introducing new skills! The project also aimed to enable the group to creatively improve their indoor park, with activities such as designing and painting ramps.

Kingsway courts: community garden art workshops                                                                                                                   2012

As part of a series of art workshops run by Depot arts at Kingsway Courts in Scotstoun I worked with local residents and children to prepare decorations and bring colour into their community Garden. On one day local women sewed many meters of bright bunting from recycled fabrics and another sunny day saw the garden full of tiny painty fingers and vegetable prints.
